Here I am in Lancaser! Yes, my fiance, his brother, and one of our friends are on a short vacation (got here today and we'll be heading home Thursday). I've had to deal with a ton of stress a work (two people- both far more experienced than me- quit), so this vacation is just what I need. Short, yes, but three days away from the job is nice.

Roald Dahl Magic
Well, my husband and I saw "Wonka" tonight and if you can't tell by the title, I LOVED it. Seriously, this movie was phenomenal and if you are in ANY way a Roald Dahl fan, go see it! I know for a lot of people, Gene Wilder will ALWAYS be Willy Wonka, but I when I saw Timothee Chalamet on screen, I saw the Willy Wonka from the books come to life on the big screen. And while thus far, I think Christian Borle was the best Wonka in a straight-up adaptation (Broadway), I can EASILY say that Chalamet did a young Wonka perfect justice. The film itself really did feel like something Dahl himself would have come up with and the songs were great. I will most CERTAINLY be buying "For a Moment," and "A World of Our Own" when I get the chance. If you need a little touch of feel-good magic, plenty of laughs, and a ton of imagination, see "Wonka." Update: my husband and I are seeing this movie for a 4th time in theaters. Yeah, we LOVE it!
6 Years and Counting
Today marks the 6-year anniversary when my husband James and I said "I do." Hard to believe it's been that long, but we're hoping to have many more years together. To celebrate, we're headed for Mohegan Sun on Sunday and will be there until at least Wednesday. We have a suite booked and ready for us and will enjoy the time in the pool, browsing the hotel, and just enjoying each other's company. Really, we have each other, so the little trip is just a bonus. Well, here's to seeing what year number 7 will bring us!
To Florida and Back
Home at last. James, our friends Vinny, and I just got back from a vacation to Florida. James and I were visiting my sister and her husband and Vinny was visiting his father. We drove down and rather than doing it all at once, we made the drive in 2 and a half days (2 overnight stays) before we each got to our destinations. Once we dropped Vinny of, James and I headed to Clearwater as James was launching a poetry anthology. But this past Friday we made it to Orlando and met up with my mother, my sister Charlotte, and her husband Dave. Then, three days of theme parks! Both Saturday and Sunday, we went to Universal Studios because Charlotte and Dave really wanted to show us Harry potter World and I must say it was amazing! Over the two days, we did the 'Escape from Gringotts' ride, rode the Hogwarts express, enjoyed the Castle Adventure Ride, and explored all the shops. There was even a small show in Ollivander's wand shop where a random guest is picked to receive a wand and basically
Farewell, Jonesy
My husband's first cat, Indiana Jonesy, died last night. Jonesy was 15, so he lived a good life and while he had started deteriorating for the past few months, he was still walking around and eating and drinking well. It was only yesterday where we knew the writing was on the wall. Thankfully, Jonesy took his last breaths at home late last night surrounded by loved ones. Far better than having to be put down. Still, it was a hard loss. James, my husband, had Jonesy for a good wile before he and I met and Jonesy was the first of his cats I met. He was a great little guy and whenever he saw me, he would roll over and want me to rub his stomach. I know James, my in-laws, and I are going to miss him dearly, but I'm glad Jonesy spent his life with them. Jonesy came to them from off the streets and was reduced to eating moths to keep going. But once he became my husband's family's cat, he lived a happy life. Rest in peace, Jonesy. We love you.

I agree, a vacation is a great way to relax. Sometimes work can get stressful, but we deserve a little time off.
Enjoy it while you can!
